Fifty laps was the distance with $20,000 on the line. Weder won the first night of competition aboard his No. 02 machine and was runner up the second night. Aside he was Tommy Myer who took the lead when the green flag dropped. With Myer in control, Weder battled with Jason Krohn for the second place position door to door gaining ground on Myer. Myer controlled the bottom with Weder and Krohn working above him. While the three battled back and forth, they left the top of the track open for Terry Phillips who moved his No. 75 GRT Chassis into a second place position passing Krohn and Myer. Phillips eventually hunted down Weder and began to pull away. The rest was history from there. Phillips moved through lapped traffic flawlessly and went uncontested for the win. Yes, Geving has garnered her third home track championship nearly one month before the season is even completed. “When we decided what our plans were this season I set a goal for myself to win a third Petaluma Speedway Championship,” said Geving. “I remained focused on that goal all season long and we accomplished it with one event still left on the season schedule. East Coast flavor represented in 2011 with King of the West 410 Series

By Gary Thomas Rio Vista, CA – December 22, 2011…Often times in racing there can be unique stories everywhere you look and during the 2011 season, East Coast native Eli Deshaies certainly filled that role with the Golden State King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series. Originally from North Kingstown, Rhode Island, Deshaies first came to California for work related reasons in 2004, but just recently entered into the venture of racing in the Golden State. Even more compelling about Deshaies is the fact that he drives the 2008 National Sprint Car Hall of Fame giveaway car. “We had a really enjoyable year with the King of the West Series and there are a lot of great people that we race with,” said Deshaies. “At the start of the year I was a little nervous if I made the right choice, but as the season went on I got more and more comfortable and everyone made me feel as if I were at home.” Some of Deshaies best moments came during the...

Ensign continued to pressure Butler for the lead, and then managed a pass on Lap 12.  Ensign worked lapped traffic perfectly while a lightning fast Dave Lindt Jr. climbed from the seventh-starting position to third then passed Butler on Lap 19.  Ensign, whose first...

McCutcheon at the Line in White Sands 305’s!

Lonnie Wheatley - ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (June 30, 2012) – Kyle McCutcheon led little more than a handful of feet, but he held the lead when it mattered by taking the $2,000 ASCS 305 Sprint Car victory at White Sands Speedway. Rallying forward from the 12th starting position on the top side of the track, McCutcheon used a lapped car as a pick to nip Rickey Hood at the line as the checkered flag flew on the 25-lapper. Working a similar high line after a lap 12 red flag stoppage that included Billy Briley and David Burns, who got upside down, Hood surged from sixth at the midpoint into the top spot ahead of Carney II on the 21st round. McCutcheon, who as eighth at the midway red flag that race leader Carney II narrowly avoided, followed Hood around Carney II on the 22nd lap and then slipped by exiting the final corner to take his first series win of the year after coming up just short at Abilene last month. Hood settled for runner-up honors for the second...

BAKERSFIELD, CA – Two-time and defending SPEARS Southwest Tour Series champion, Jim Pettit II often prides himself on the fact that he and his team “never give up”, and Saturday night at Madera Speedway, when Pettit lost the lead late in the race to Derek Thorn, Pettit didn’t give up and the net result was his first win of 2012.   With just seven laps remaining in the “Motor Racing Outreach 125”, Thorn jumped to the outside of Pettit to try to take away the lead that Pettit had held for the previous 92 laps.  The two raced side-by-side for the lead until Thorn cleared the Moeller Bros./HUR Engines #18 on lap 120.  With just two laps to go, Thorn began to catch the tail end of the field as he closed in on numerous cars all racing for position in the final stage of the race.   On the final flag lap Thorn drifted high in turn 2 attempting to move pass a group of...

It’s all Shane Stewart in Knoxville

Bryan Hulbert/Bill Wright - Knoxville, Iowa (August 4, 2012) The first four time champion has been crowned as the Kick It for Cancer/Jeff Gordon Foundation No. 57 of Shane Stewart went uncontested in Saturday night’s 25 lap Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals feature event. “That car in the A-Main was just flawless” commented Stewart in Victory Lane. “I’m not even worried about the other nationals right now I’m just going to celebrate these nationals.” Called back on a false start, Stewart was able still able to get the jump into the top spot. Racing to a straight-a-way advantage in the three laps as Roger Crockett gave chase with Kevin Swindell and Brady Bacon moving in to battle for the runner up spot. With the preferred line quickly moving up the racing surface, lapped traffic would force Stewart to utilize the slide job. Meyers One Step Closer after Night 2 Win at Knoxville Nationals

Meyers One Step Closer after Night 2 Win at Knoxville Nationals Stevie Smith and Outlaws points leader Craig Dollansky are Saturday’s front-row starters   KNOXVILLE, Iowa - Aug. 9, 2012 - Like a wrinkled grocery list after a day at the store, Jason Meyers scratched off his racing goals one by one over the last decade. The two-time defending World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion had accomplished nearly everything and anything he set his sights on before hanging up his racing suit in the offseason, choosing to focus on his family rather than chasing sprint car races across the country. Every goal was met and crossed off except one - a Goodyear Knoxville Nationals title. "Out of all the goals we've set in sprint car racing, we've achieved them all except for winning the Knoxville Nationals," he said. Meyers is one step closer to that dream after he recorded an emphatic victory on Thursday on the second qualifying night of...

Dramatic Turn of Events sees Wayne Johnson Victorious at Lawton

Bryan Hulbert - Lawton, Oklahoma (August 18, 2012) In a stunning turn of events following Friday’s Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV feature event at Lawton Speedway, Jason Johnson was disqualified after it was revealed that the left side muffler was missing after the night’s 30 lap feature event. Credited with the win, Wayne Johnson humbly commented on the situation with, “I would hate to have been in Jason’s shoes on that deal. To win the race and get disqualified for a muffler falling off but it is in the rules. It sucks for those guys because he had the best car but you know what the shoe could have very easily been on the other foot. It could have easily been me winning the race and having a muffler fall off.” Drawing the number eight starting spot, Johnson shot to third in the opening laps as Mike Goodman took the early advantage. Starting off the night’s feature with a red for the No. 45 of Martin Edwards, the night’s 25 lap A-Main rolled green until lap eleven when a slide job gone bad saw Matt Covington making contact with Shawn Petersen. The No. 11c would retire for the evening with Petersen’s No. 4x returning. Having taken the lead on lap seven, John Carney II would nearly see his night take a wrong turn in slower traffic after making contact with J.P. Baily on lap seventeen. Although the victory makes him the winningest driver of the season thus far, the battle for the sprint car championship is far from over at the quarter-mile clay oval. In fact, it's hotter than ever and the title won't be determined by one's success over a 12 race period, it's going to come down to one single race next Saturday night. Forsberg may have won the battle Saturday night, but Cameron Park's Stephen Allard let it be known the war is on in these final two weeks as he put the pressure on Forsberg for the entire night Saturday with an amazing charge to the front of the field, which resulted in a second place finish and a frenzy of...
