Rollag Captures First California Civil War Series Victory At Petaluma Speedway

APRIL 28, 2012 - PETALUMA, CA: Pit Stop USA Sprint Car Series regular Brett Rollag had the packed house on the edge of their seats as he drove to a convincing Civil War Series Victory on the lightning fast 3/8 mile Petaluma Speedway Saturday night. In addition to the victory Rollag comes away from Saturday night's action as the new point leader in the Pit Stop USA Sprint Car Series at Petaluma Speedway.

Elk Grove’s Kyle Hirst was in hot pursuit waiting for any kind of mistake to snatch the first career Civil War Series victory away but in the end Rollag did a masterful job working lapped traffic to secure the victory. Richard Bailey finished third followed by Justin Sanders, Stephen Allard, Chase Johnson, Sean Becker, Colby Wiesz, and Greg DeCaires.

The race ended a lap early when defending Civil War Champion Andy Forsberg hit the turn four wall when a pitman arm broke and left the car without steering. The six time Civil War Champion was having a very strong run in the Pit Stop USA sponsored number x1 of F&F Racing from the tenth starting position all the to fourth when his night ended against the fourth turn fence.

The Hoosier Tire California Civil War Series opener featured 34 of the California’s top sprint car competitors in front of one of the largest crowds in recent memory at Petaluma Speedway. The racing was outstanding through all of the heat races and the exciting 17 car B-Main where fast qualifier Herman Klein had to secure a starting position due to a fifth place position in his heat race. Klein had set the pace in qualifying with a lightning fast 12:599 second lap. Heat race wins were scored by Kyle Hirst, Greg DeCaires, David Lindt Jr., and Jeremy Burt.

17 year old Joe Stornetta captured his second victory in a row in the Pit Stop USA Wingless Sprint Car Series after capturing his first ever feature race win last week. Stornetta stormed to the lead on lap number two leaving Scott Dupont and the rest of the field in hot pursuit. Nick Larsen, Zack Lynskey, Scott Dupont, Scott Hall rounded out the top 5. Bob Newberry, Marcus Hardina, Bill Cornwell, Trevor Schmid, and Alissa Geving rounded out the top ten.
