MAY 12, 2012 - PETALUMA, CA: Joe Stornetta looked a lot more like a seasoned veteran than a 17-year-old driver as he captured his third straight Pit Stop USA Wingless Sprint Car Series victory Saturday night at Petaluma Speedway. The Napa, California teenager drove to his most convincing victory yet against a very competitive field and increased his point lead in the process.

Stornetta led the first two circuits before surrendering the lead to Bill Cornwell on lap 3 then fell to fourth when the hard charging Bradley Terrell began his impressive march to the front. Terrell, making his first start of the season in the Pit Stop USA Wingless Sprint Cars, grabbed the lead from Cornwell on lap 6 and looked to be the car to beat until a mechanical failure sidelined him on lap 10 handing the lead back to Cornwell.

Geoff Ensign, Terry Schank Jr. and Stornetta battled behind Cornwell who was looking for his first ever victory for several laps until Stornetta methodically started making his move towards the front. Stornetta battled hard with Ensign for second place, gaining the spot on lap 19, and then set his sights on Cornwell. Stornetta finally set up Cornwell for the lead on lap 25 and never looked back. Cornwell came home with his career-best second place finish followed by Geoff Ensign in his first ride aboard Jim Vanlare’s number 5V. Terry Schank Jr. finished fourth with Nick Larson rounding out the top 5.

The 25-lap was the most exciting and action packed feature race yet for the Pit Stop USA Wingless Sprint Car Series with a strong 17 car field on hand. Veteran’s Terry Schank Jr. and Sparky Howard made their first series appearances of the year as did Pit Stop USA Winged 360 Sprint Car Series regular Bradley Terrell aboard the Donny Vanlare 5D.
