By Gary Thomas

Rio Vista, CA – February 28, 2013…The thrill of watching drivers charge through the field is one of the most intense aspects of sprint car racing and in 2013 King of the West Sprint Car Series competitors will have more incentive to do so once again, with the announcement of the PitStopUSA.com Hard Charger Award returning to the tour this season.

Overall the King of the West Sprint Car Series schedule features 28-events at 12 different tracks and Pit Stop USA will award the hard charger each night with a $200 product certificate. The award has been a very popular one among teams that compete with KWS and we’re happy to have the support of Pit Stop USA once again.

In April of 2000, Pit Stop USA became one of the first companies ever to open a circle track online store. Since that time the company has grown very rapidly and 2013 is looking to be another great year for the Petaluma, California based company.

Pit Stop USA has become a leading retailer of circle track parts and accessories and currently offers over 40,000 parts and accessories from over 400 manufacturers. Pit Stop USA’s goal is provide a one-stop shopping environment featuring the widest assortment of circle track racing products available at low everyday prices.

“We are very excited to partner with the King of the West Sprint Car Series again this year as a sponsor of the Pit Stop USA Hard Charger Award,” said Pit Stop USA President Ed Coughenour. “Dan Simpson and his staff have done a great job with the series and they’ve done an outstanding job the last two years promoting Pit Stop USA to the competitors and fans. We are especially looking forward to the return of the KWS series to Petaluma Speedway this year with the “Salute to Baylands” event on May 11 and proud to be a part of this great series again in 2013.”

To be eligible for the Pit Stop USA Hard Charger Award with the King of the West Sprint Car Series, competitors must display the Pit Stop USA decal on their car. The decals will be provided each night at the KWS command center.

“Ed Coughenour and the Pit Stop USA staff have been great supporters of KWS over the past couple years and we’re looking forward to working with them again on the Hard Charger Award,” said KWS Operations Manager George Hague. “It really does give the drivers starting further back in the field an extra incentive to get their elbows up and charge to the front. Like Ed we are also excited about returning to the Petaluma Speedway on May 11 for the Salute to Baylands.”

The 2013 racing season for the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series will get underway on Saturday April 20 at the Antioch Speedway in Antioch, California. Three-time & defending series champion Jonathan Allard will look to open the season on the right note, but will face a strong field of challengers at the always action packed one-third mile clay oval.

Among the drivers looking to take over the top spot from Allard this season is Sacramento’s Kyle Hirst, who assumes the seat of the Dennis & Teresa Roth owned Roth Enterprises No. 83jr sprint car. Hirst last year drove the Roth Motorsports mount to a King of the West victory in Antioch and also claimed the 50-lap finale at the prestigious Trophy Cup in Tulare.
