ANDERSON, Ind. — Jo Jo Helberg captured Saturday night’s TRUFUEL Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series 50-lap feature at Anderson Speedway.

The win marked the third consecutive year Helberg has won the August MSRXSS event at Anderson.

Helberg wasted no time getting to the front to challenge for the lead from his outside row two starting position. Helberg took command of the event on lap 15 and never looked back the rest of the race.

“Lapped traffic was a little tough right at the beginning,” explained Helberg. “If second place caught me sleeping I would have been very disappointed in myself. With those restarts I tried to take full advantage of the clean track just to try and get as much of a cushion as possible that way I could get through lapped traffic.”

Helberg was well aware of the success he has annually benefited from at Anderson Speedway with his third consecutive August MSRXSS victory.

“I finally got my setup right here this year,” Helberg said. “I think when it comes to this fall race I give it all I got and make sure I’m plenty of aggressive because come the end of the season I wanna get more wins.”

Early race leader Chris Neunschwander lead the first eight laps of the feature and appeared to build a sizeable lead until dropping out of the event with mechanical woes, handing the lead to Brian Olson. Olson inherited the lead but was being chased by an aggressive Helberg who got under Olson and took the lead on lap fifteen. Helberg would lead the rest of the event unmolested.

Tyler Roahrig was able to close in on Helberg late in the race due to lapped cars, but couldn’t get close enough to challenge for the lead. Brian Gerster was third followed by Brian Olson and Aaron Pierce rounding out the top five.

Brian Gerster was the night’s fast qualifier with a lap of 10.379 seconds on the quarter-mile oval.

Jason Atkinson won the street stock race and Marty Griffin topped the thunder roadster race.
