Clamshell closures lock automatically when the two halves are snapped together and cannot disengage accidentally. All three latch pawls must be lifted simultaneously to open the latch. For an added measure of security, the couplings can also be ordered with a self-bonding safety device, which prevents improper installation and provides for quick, easy visual inspection. Clamshell quick disconnect couplings offer excellent flexibility with axial adjustment of up to 1/4" and angular misalignment of 4 degrees for couplings on tubing. The hydraulic clutch system on late-model GM LS vehicles uses a plastic clutch hose that is tough to modify when doing an engine swap.
