UMI Performance Control Arm Kit - Lower/Upper - Aluminum Bushings - Black - GM B-Body 1978-96
UMI's 2nd Generation F-Body a-arm kit, P/N 265253-1 is designed to make your classic cruiser feel like modern muscle. Increased positive caster combined with improved camber curve and low friction Delrin bushings make for a well-tuned front end. Increased caster is achieved relocating both the upper and lower ball joints to enhance steering feel and improve high speed stability. As designed, the caster range is 5-7 degrees. The spindle pin location remains unchanged so fender clearance is like stock. The upper a-arms include offset CrMo cross shafts to reduce the amount of shims required when setting camber as well as a tall ball joint to improve camber gain. Upper and lower a-arms are assembled with UMI built Delrin bushings to allow proper suspension movement. A pancake style polyurethane bump stop is included to control suspension droop. The heavy duty lower spring bucket accepts factory and aftermarket coil springs as well as the popular hybrid coilover units. Laser cut UMI reinforcement plates add a great appearance and excellent strength. UMI's double shear sway bar end links are included and work nicely with UMI P/N 4035 sway bar and also most aftermarket stock eyelet type sway bars. Available in UMI red or gloss black powder coat. 100% designed, manufactured and raced with pride in Philipsburg, PA - USA. Product Description:
Do you know when you purchase an item manufactured by UMI you are supporting the United States of America? UMI Performance Inc. proudly designs and manufactures its entire line of products within its facility located in the small town of Philipsburg, Pennsylvania. The facility features CNC machining, CNC laser cutting, band sawing, press brake operation, MIG and TIG welding, engineering, sand blasting and powder coating.
UMI began in late 2002 under the leadership of Ryan Kirkwood and the guidance of his father Denny. Together this father and son team developed a large variety of products for many makes and models of GM vehicles as well as the Ford Mustang. Ryan saw a large demand for suspension and chassis products, and felt the market was lacking of options. On May 31st 2003, UMI began its official journey in the aftermarket suspension industry with their first test car, a 1994 Ford Mustang GT. This car was used as a test bed for the beginning stages of UMIà ¢??s Fox and SN95 platform products. The products began to move very quickly, becoming almost impossible to keep in stock. The faster they manufactured them the quicker they sold. In late 2003, UMI purchased a 2000 Pontiac Firebird which was used as their F-Body platform design vehicle. Slowly, products began to arise on the market for the GM F-Body, and quickly UMI became a well-respected company, becoming one of the largest suspension manufactures in todayà ¢??s market.
Today, UMI operates out of a 35,000 square foot facility staffed with over 30 employees - this new facility located in Philipsburg, PA was recently acquired by UMI in March, 2011. UMI manufactures 99% of their products within their facility from start to finish - from raw 24 foot bars of tubing to a finished product on your door step. UMI is very proud of their success over the past 12 years, and would like to take the time to thank each and every customer for their support. UMIÃ ¢??s 30+ hardworking employees are proud to offer you an American made product, hand crafted and fabricated with blood, sweat and pride.
