Birdcage bolts hold the pickup points that connect torsion arms, radius rods, and shocks to the cage, carrying suspension loads every lap. A bolt that shears or wears oval changes suspension geometry with no visible warning. Correct diameter and shoulder length are what keep the pickup located precisely.
These are wear items on a rotating assembly, so periodic replacement is standard.
