The Racing D. U. I. only draws 2 to 3 amps off of the battery, whereas point type ignitions and spark boxes drain 10 amps or more. The Racing D. U. I. Coil and the Dyna-Module produce a long duration spark allowing spark plug gaps to be opened up to . 050"-. 055". Magneto ignitions can only run . 015"-. 025". The Race D. U. I. sends twice as much fire into the combustion chamber than a magneto. Horsepower is gained because more fuel is burned on each piston stroke. Spark Plugs stay cleaner longer. The Race D. U. I also makes point-type systems obsolete and saves time and money because points do not have to be changed for every race. The Racing D. U. I. Coil is designed to run cooler than all other coils including oil-filled coils. The units wider distributor cap terminal spacing eliminates across fire which occurs in small diameter caps.
The Racing Ford D. U. I. advance system is curved for better throttle response and more power. All of the moving parts are hand fitted to assure the smoothest advance curve possible. The weights are fabricated from very high quality hardened steel which makes them virtually maintenance free. More timing can be run (without detonation) than with stock distributors and after market curve kits. Each distributor is curved on a distributor machine for the engine it is going into according to the customers engine combination. These units are available with or without vacuum advance and include a brass terminal cap and rotor.
