According to a Twitter posting this afternoon, Trevor Bayne will be replaced this weekend by back-to-back champion of the Chili Bowl Kevin Swindell. Son of World of Outlaws driver Sammy Swindell, Kevin will be in the Roush-Fenway number 16 for this weekend’s race at Dover International Speedway.

An announcement is expected by Roush Fenway executives on Wednesday, and the official entry list will be updated once the official announcement has been made. It is speculated that Bayne will be back in action for next weekend’s Nationwide Series race.

Bayne was originally hospitalized on April 10 in Charlotte, N.C., for what was suspected reaction to an insect bite. He has recently gone through numerous tests at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for symptoms that included fatigue, numbness in his arm and double vision. He returned to North Carolina last Thursday. Chris Buescher has been the pilot of Bayne’s car in the last two Nationwide Series races.

Bayne opened the season with a win in the Wood Brothers Racing Sprint Cup Ford in the Daytona 500. He is still scheduled to drive for them in the upcoming NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race.
