This weekend the Golden State King of the West Sprint Car Series will open up their much anticipated season at Antioch Speedway. The series underwent a lot of changes during the off season with Dan Simpson taking over. Race format, purse structure and contingency awards are just a few of the many upgrades.

Some of California’s biggest names will be in competition on the one-third mile clay oval including 2010 King of California Champion Kyle Larson. The Elk Grove native will make scattered appearances with the rejuvenated series after landing a ride with Columbus, Indiana based Keith Kunz Motorsports piloting the Toyota Racing Development Mopar USAC National Midget.

While the eighteen year old sensation will not be contending for a series championship Tim “TK” Kaeding and Jonathan “JA” Allard will be. The duo made up for nearly half of the main event victories last year with the Golden State Series. Kaeding scored six victories with Allard picking up five.

Other big names include Brent Kaeding, Jason Statler, Zach Zimmerly, Andy Gregg, Sean Becker, Peter Murphy, Brad Furr, Bobby McMahan, Kenny Allen, Trey Starks, Sean McMahan, Eli Deshaies, Noah Ennis, Evan Suggs, Willie Croft, Shane Golobic, Brent Bjork, Justin Sanders, Billy Strange Jr., Craig Smith, Doug Gandy, Pat Havey, Steve Osbourne, Geoff Duppman and many more.
