The IMCA modifieds are invading the desert this weekend, when they visit Arizona’s Canyon Speedway. Canyon Speedway recently went through a management change and a new track configuration. The track is now expecting to see 3 and 4 wide racing easily.

But what I found more interesting then that is what they are doing to entice drivers: The winner of the IMCA, Pro Stock, and Bomber classes will have the opportunity to forfeit the winner’s cash and return at the next event for a chance at tripling their money. Let me make this clear, the track is not forcing the drivers or teams that win to do this. But if the winner wants to they can leave with just the trophy and a smile this weekend, then return on April 16th, and if they take home the checkered flag the speedway will triple the $777 winners check. Which would put them leaving with a cool $2331 check. Is it worth it? Would you do it?

Regardless of whether you would do it or not. You have to hand it to the new ownership of Canyon Speedway. They are giving the drivers a little more to race for, adding some drama into the weekend, and a chance at making decent money. Plus, let’s say the IMCA winner actually steps up to the plate and gambles his winnings. How great will that race be on April 16th! So a tip of the hat to you Canyon Speedway, and fans can check out the official press release on this weekends race by visiting the Canyon Speedway’s homepage
