Is the Accel Device Offered in Different Sizes?The Impact Accel FHR is currently offered in one (standard) size. The standard device fits most adults, typically a driver weighing 100 lbs or more.
Do I Need Any Special Tools to Install the Impact Accel?No, the Accel uses standard tools and we supply a tool kit with each device.
Will the Impact Accel Feature the Helmet Attachment Hardware?Priced at only $599, the Impact Accel device includes the tether hardware and helmet clips. The Accel has everything you need to be a Saferacer!
What Size of Shoulder Belts Work with the Accel?Both 2-inch and 3-inch shoulder belts work with the standard Impact Accel FHR.
How do I Best Set Up My Restraints to Work with the Accel Device?The Impact Accel device works most effectively with properly installed restraints. For more information on proper restraint mounting, refer to the "Seat Belt Installation Guide" on the SFI Foundation's website here
Will I Be Able to Move My Head From Side to Side?Yes, the Accel has self-aligning tethers that offer range of motion from left to right.
Will the Device Put Pressure on My Clavicle (Collar Bone)?No, the Impact Accel has body forming pads, which go under the seat belt at the collarbone. There is no hard surface on your collar bone.
Will I Need to Buy Shoulder Pads?No, the Accel FHR features comfortable and lightweight shoulder pads integrated into the design of the device.
Do I Need to Buy Additional Helmet Hardware or Other Accessories?No, the Impact Accel device includes all the helmet hardware needed. You can purchase additional sets of hardware if you have multiple helmets.
Will I Need to Drill My Helmet?If you have a new SAH2010, SAH2015, it is ok to use the mounting plates pre-installed in the helmet. If it is a pre-drilled helmet, you will need to use the backing plates supplied with the Accel device. Otherwise, easy-to-follow instructions for un-drilled and SA2010 helmets are included with the device.
What Do I Do if My Helmet Has Been Drilled?The Impact Accel will work using the existing frontal head restraint holes. Simply install the helmet hardware using the backing plate (washer nut). You will need to detach the backing plate from the helmet hardware (the backing plate is attached to the QR helmet hardware from the factory). The backing plate installs inside the helmet - between the foam (helmet liner) and the inside of the helmet (shell).
