International Motorsports Industry Show

Indy Is Racing

IMIS 2010 drew big crowds

IMIS 2010 saw dramatic growth in both exhibitors and attendees.

We came away from our visit to the International Motorsports Industry Show in Indianapolis very impressed; especially considering this was only the second year.  It is apparent that the IMIS is rapidly becoming the show of choice, especially for the circle track racing community.

With racing superstar Tony Stewart leading the way, IMIS 2010 showed impressive growth over last year with 579 exhibitors, covering double the 2009 floor space and thousands more attendees. The slogan Indy is Racing™ was prominently displayed everywhere from the new Indianapolis International Airport, to every venue in downtown Indianapolis.

The show included a major focus on racing safety with including the inaugural IMIS Youth Safety Conference. The IMIS Safety & Technical Conference featured several of motorsports top authorities and explained on how new technology is impacting motorsports. Hubert Gramling from the FIA Institute was a keynote safety speaker and was joined by Richard Woods, the Director General from the FIA Institute during the Conference.

The Power Train session that included an in-depth discussion of hybrid issues in motorsports. The aerodynamics session featured a presentation of how Chip Ganassi Racings' Ben Bowlby developed the radical 'Delta Wing' concept.

Be sure to mark your calendar now for the IMIS 2011 set for November 30 to December 2, 2011.
