Casey Riggs Celebrates His First Sprint Car Feature Win (Photo Source: Midwest Sprint Car Series

The Midwest Sprint Car Series always puts on a good show for the fans and that was certainly the case at Tri-State Speedway over the weekend.  Some of the best non-wing sprint car drivers in the Midwest lined up for the 25-lap feature event with Seth Parker leading them to the green flag.  Parker would look strong early as he led the first 15 laps of the event while the contenders sorted themselves out behind him.  Parker was dealing with some heavy lap traffic when he had problems and nearly spun out in turn two and then more problems in turn four as the car got way sideways on him.  This opened the door for Casey Riggs to grab the lead from Parker who would fade to a fourth place finish.  Riggs would hold off runner-up Brady Short and third place Critter Malone to claim the $3,000 payday.

The win for the 22-year-old Riggs was his first with the MSCS and first ever win in a sprint car.  After three years of trying the Shelbyville, Indiana native Riggs finally collected a win in his #37 Indiana Underground Construction sponsored Maxim sprint car.  Riggs also earned a heat race victory and the most passing points in the heat races.  Riggs was very excited in victory lane as he said, “I have an awesome team.  Everybody works so hard.  Charlie Fisher builds the best motor.”  Riggs added as he looked at the stands, “It’s you guys that let us put on a show and give us the opportunity to run as hard as we do.”  The remainder of the top ten consisted of Kevin Thomas Jr. in fifth followed by Kyle Cummins, Braylon Fitzpatrick, Joe Liguori, Mark Perry III, and Dakota Jackson in tenth.  The Midwest Sprint Car Series returns to action on Saturday, June 18 for the “Chuck Amati Classic 68″ at Paragon Speedway.
