Billet aluminum Rear Main Seal Adapter Alignment Tool allows installation of a two piece style crankshaft seal and early (pre-1986) crankshaft into a 1986 and newer SB Chevy (pre-LS) engine. Adapters include mounting hardware. Alignment tool is available and recommended to ensure proper installation and centering of adapter plate. Rear Cover Alignment Tool The timing cover and rear cover on GM (General Motors) LS series engines don't have any dowel pins to ensure correct alignment to the centerline of the crankshaft & this often leads to annoying leaks at the front damper seal and rear main seal. These special alignment tools center the front or rear cover when it is installed, and allow an easy way to install the seal by lightly tapping on the tool with rubber mallet. Choose from three styles of these alignment tools. Front Cover Alignment Tools allow for a safe and easy way to install the seal—by lightly tapping on the tool with soft rubber mallet. These specialized tools are designed to center the front or rear timing cover when it's installed to provide the correct alignment to the centerline of the crankshaft, and to help avoid seal leaks at the front or rear damper cover when installed.
