Woodward UA Series U-Joings was introduced in 1989, and feature low friction needle roller bearings, high-temperature fluorocarbon seals, stainless steel retainer screws with positive over lap of the bearings, and a solid, one-piece trunnion made from 6150 chrome-vanadium hardened to a minimum of 58 Rockwell C. Very strong and reliable, these U-Joints combine zero backlash with extremely low operating effort because of the close tolerance precision manufacture. As an added safety feature, their splined ends are provided with two fine-pitch set screws for positive shaft retention. Their superior performance has so distinguished Woodward U-Joints that they are supplied as original equipment by the majority of professional race car builders in the USA, and have won every series championship, including the Cup, several times over.
