PENNGROVE, CA (4-9 -11) –  Two time Petaluma Speedway champion and former Civil War Series Rookie of the Year Alissa Geving of Penngrove, California returned to battle in the Hoosier Racing Tires Civil War Race Series last Saturday night at one of the tour’s toughest tracks to tame, the fast and furious bullring at Placerville Speedway.

Saturday’s event marked the second round of the traveling Civil War Sprint Car Series that competes in a total of 14 events between the months of March and October for over $250,000 and a championship title worth $10,000 alone this year. With two events in the history book, Geving is already among the top five contenders in the chase for the coveted series championship.

“It’s great to be back with the Civil War Series, I love racing with this group again,” said Geving. “Placerville is one of the toughest tracks we come to and we all worked together to get the car figured out and achieved our goal of finishing the A-main.”

A total of 35 cars entered Saturday’s event. In qualifying, Geving was the 26th car to take to the track that became dry slick very early in the program partly due to the gusty winds in the foothills throughout the day. Geving’s fastest lap was a 11:333 which placed her Tillett Tool, Pitstop USA Matt Cordeiro Enterprises 19th on the roster for the evening.

In the third heat race of the night, Geving powered off the outside of the front row ahead of pole sitter CJ Humphreys to take the lead of the 10-lap qualifier. Once in front the 19-year-old Santa Rosa Junior College student distanced herself from the challenges of second place and fellow Petaluma Speedway colleague Geoff Ensign of Sebastapol. The victory secured a starting spot in the 30-lap A- feature later in the program and prevented Geving from the facing a B main which is always a grueling race on the Placerville red clay as drivers scurry for a last opportunity to make the money race.

An eight car inversion formed the line up for the 30-lap feature event. Geving took to the grid deep in the field in the 16th starting position on the outside of the eighth row. Using great patience and cautious navigation of the dry slick high banks of Placerville, Geving avoided numerous incidents while racing through traffic. When the checkered flag waved and the dust settled she ended her night with a 13th place finish for the night.

“We set our goal to finish the A main and we did just that here,” added Geving. “I’m having a blast in the Civil War and I really want to thank my team for all of their hard work, not only tonight but for their long hours building my new A.R.T car that I will drive for the first time next week in Petaluma. I appreciate everyone who makes this possible for me.”

After Saturday night, Geving is currently ranked fourth in the Civil War point standings. Positions one through three are presently tied with 145 points. Geving is 8-points behind the leaders and sits one point ahead of defending champion Andy Forsberg.

This Saturday night race fans can see Alissa Geving in action at her home track of Petaluma Speedway for the All Pro Series Championship. She will return to the Civil War Series on May 13th at Silver Dollar Speedway and once again on Sunday, May 29th for the fifth round of the Civil War Series.
