Sammy Swindell Celebrates his Win (Image Credit: Mark Funderburk)

Steve Kinser and Craig Dollansky have dominated the last six World of Outlaws races at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN as they have each picked up three victories at the 1/4 bullring.  On Saturday night Sammy Swindell ended their streak and put his Big Game Treestands #1 sprinter into victory lane.  From the drop of the green Joey Saldana jumped to the lead and pulled away.  A great battle between Sammy Swindell and Paul McMahan raged on for the second spot as they each swapped the spot back and forth.  Jason Sides brought out the red flag early when he flipped violently at the end of the front stretch but he emerged from the wreckage okay.

The field was reset for a double-file restart and Saldana chose the outside line with Swindell lining up to the inside. Saldana charged out front. By Lap 15 he was in heavy traffic with Swindell closing in on him. Three laps later Swindell caught and passed Saldana just before the third-place running car of Lucas Wolfe suffered a flat left rear tire. From there on out it was all Swindell as he faced small challenges from Saldana and McMahan on some restarts but nothing he couldn’t handle.  Swindell was hooked up and flying as he took the victory which was his fifth Outlaws win at Tri-State and ninth overall win at the track dating back to 1974.

After the race Swindell said, “We’ve spent a few off-seasons running down in New Zealand on some pretty tight tracks and it has taught us a lot. Al Parker built us a great motor and we had a new Maxim here tonight so we just had to put our experience to good use and came out with a win.” McMahan came home second, Saldana third, Kraig Kinser fourth, and Craig Dollansky fifth.  The World of Outlaws will return to action on Tuesday, May 2nd at the Salina Highbanks Speedway in Oklahoma for a make-up race.
