Santa Maria Speedway is turning into a hotbed of IMCA Modified racers with the likes of Brad Pounds, Larry Hood, Doug Thornton, Mike Kirby and Bobby Hogge all turning laps on the third mile oval last year. Promoter Chris Kearns knows when he has a good thing going on, so to increase the car count, draw the best Modified drivers from the surrounding area and reward the drivers with much needed cash, Kearns is posting a $1,500 to win the features during the Santa Maria Nationals on May 28th and 29th.

In addition to the purse, the races are qualifying events for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.
