Craig Dollansky picked up his first World of Outlaw victory of 2011 at Chico, California’s Silver Dollar Speedway for the Mini Gold Cup on Saturday night.

Dollansky led all thirty-five laps aboard his Big Game Treestands/Aggressive Hydraulics Maxim. With heavy rain in the area the track benefited those with patience on the high banked quarter-mile oval.

Dollansky previously led the most lap in two main events however fell up short at the finish line. “We had a few of them get away from us in Florida at the DIRTcar Nationals but we were able to put together the whole deal here tonight,” said Dollansky.

Donny Schatz was awarded the pole position after an impressive dash victory in his STP/Armor All/Chevrolet/J&J No. 15.

With the crowd on their feet Dollansky leaped ahead of his competition from the outside pole with a comfortable lead until the first caution flew on lap seven. Dollansky chose the outside lane for the restart and pulled away when racing resumed.

A late race red flag set up the final double-file restart with nine laps to go. On the restart Kasey Kahne Racing’s Joey Saldana made a pass outside of Schatz in turn one for second place. Dollansky continued to pull away with Schatz making a move past Saldana to regain a second place finish.

“It certainly was a great night for us,” said Schatz.

Craig Dollansky, Donny Schatz, Joey Saldana, Paul McMahan, Sammy Swindell, Jac Haudenschild, Tim Kaeding, Jason Meyers, Lucas Wolfe and Shane Golobic rounded out the top ten.

The World of Outlaws will continue their California tour with racing taking place on Friday at Giant Chevrolet Speedway in Hanford. Saturday’s action will be at Tulare’s Groppetti Automotive Thunderbowl.
