Tommy Weder Jr. set the pace Sunday afternoon for the USRA Modified Winter Meltdown at Southern New Mexico Speedway. Fifty laps was the distance with $20,000 on the line. Weder won the first night of competition aboard his No. 02 machine and was runner up the second night. Aside he was Tommy Myer who took the lead when the green flag dropped.

With Myer in control, Weder battled with Jason Krohn for the second place position door to door gaining ground on Myer. Myer controlled the bottom with Weder and Krohn working above him.

While the three battled back and forth, they left the top of the track open for Terry Phillips who moved his No. 75 GRT Chassis into a second place position passing Krohn and Myer. Phillips eventually hunted down Weder and began to pull away.

The rest was history from there. Phillips moved through lapped traffic flawlessly and went uncontested for the win. The battle behind him was heated however with Johnny Scott and Jason Krohn picking up podium finishes. Tommy Myer, Jeff Taylor, Kellen Chadwick, Rodney Sanders, Jason Grimes, Jake O’Neil and Darrell Nelson rounded out the top ten.
