The HANS Adjustable, which meets the SFI Foundation’s Spec. 38.1 for head and neck restraints, enables all drivers to purchase a HANS with full confidence of a comfortable fit no matter what type of car or racing seat they use. It is adjustable in five-degree increments which allows the Hans Adjustable device to improve the fit and comfort for all racers. The HANS Adjustable can be used in different types of cars. If a racer competes in a sprint car with an upright seat and also a stock car with a reclined seat the device easily adjusts to the seat layback from 10 to 40 degrees. The HANS Adjustable device is made by an injection molded process using a metal alloy before a fire-resistant nylon coating is applied. The DuPont Zytel coating is a nylon resin that is injection molded to the fit the device. In addition to toughness characteristics, the make-up of the polymer is mixed specifically to be highly fire resistant. Metal fasteners that employ Spiralock® technology enable a driver to adjust the legs of the HANS to alter the angle of the collar in five-degree increments.
The HANS Adjustable weighs 970 grams. This is heavier than the HANS Sport II (770 grams) and lighter than the HANS Sport (1,110 grams). Features: HANS - Adjustable™ Adjustable angle from 10 to 40 degrees fits all types of cars and seats. Easy to adjust in 5 degree increments – providing more comfort. Choice of medium or large collar width fits 90% of all drivers. SFI 38.1 Certified and is eligible for use in series recognizing this specification for competition including SCCA and NHRA, or any series where a head and neck restraint is recommended but not required such a USAC, World of Outlaws, etc. NOTE: The HANS Adjustable is currently under final review by the FIA, but has not yet been approved for use in IndyCar, IMSC, etc. NASCAR approval has not yet been granted for the HANS Adjustable device.
